Hitchcock

If ever there was such a revolutionary filmmaker of our time, it had to be Alfred Hitchcock. With such films like Vertigo and The Birds, he showed that he was one of the best directors out there. But however, quite possibly his most well-known film was Psycho.

Hitchcock is basically about Alfred Hitchcock trying to make the film Psycho when studios refused to distribute it. The film also takes a look at his relationship with his wife Alma, whom he suspects is having an affair.

The film is mediocre at best, with a few standout performances.

The cast seems like an Oscar cast. There's Anthony Hopkins as the Master of Suspense, Helen Mirren as his wife. Hopkins is the standout here, playing the dark comedic Hitchcock, who uses the mannerisms that Alfred once used when he was making films.

The film is slow when it focuses on Hitchcock's relationship with his wife, and the film falls flat. I mean, we were supposed to see a film on the making of Psycho, not some soap opera drama.

The film Hitchcock was supposed to be about Psycho, but instead centers more around Hitchcock and his wife, and the film fails to deliver a gripping story that does Hitchcock's legendary work justice.
